Special screenings of the film "Bucha," organized by the OSCE, took place in Vienna
On November 19 and 20, just before the 1000th day of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, special screenings of the film "Bucha" took place in Vienna (Austria). The events were organized by the US, EU, and Ukrainian delegations to the OSCE, the Embassy of Ukraine in Austria, in partnership with the public organization Unlimited Democracy.

The Deputy Head of the US Mission to the OSCE, Tim Henvey, the Chargé d'Affaires of Ukraine, Victoria Kushinnikova, and the Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Mission, Oleksandr Irkhin, delivered speeches, emphasizing the importance of preserving the memory of the brutal events in Bucha during the spring of 2022 and the need for the fastest possible restoration of peace and justice for Ukraine.

Tim Henvey stated: “1000 days ago, Bucha was a small Ukrainian town with 37,000 people. Imagine that Russian troops and tanks enter your city, the enemy starts blocking bridges and patrolling your streets. We all know what followed – systematic violence, mass killings, and burials – all of which were confirmed by representatives of the UN, OSCE, and numerous global media outlets. These actions are documented crimes against humanity.”

Omar Kardentei, a representative of the US Delegation to the OSCE, shared his thoughts after the screening:
“Art, particularly cinema, is a powerful weapon, one of the serious components of the information war. Its task is to tell the truth to society, chronicle events, and strike an emotional chord, and this is precisely what the film ‘Bucha’ does. I believe that with constant attention and relentless help from Western society, films like ‘Bucha’ will become a powerful informational offensive for Ukraine in its global information warfare. I am deeply grateful to everyone who attended and supported this screening. Together, we continue to honor the resilience and courage of the Ukrainian people.”

After the screening of "Bucha," there was a Q&A session with the director, Stanislav Tiunov. He emphasized the importance of showcasing the film to Western audiences, highlighting the film’s role in countering Russian propaganda and shaping the worldview of Western society.

The screening was attended by members of OSCE delegations from countries such as Austria, France, Turkey, Bulgaria, Malta, Latvia, Lithuania, Greece, Romania, Sweden, Poland, the United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, Denmark, Switzerland, Australia, Norway, the Netherlands, and, of course, Ukraine.
